For Legal Practitioners
The SLCC was established under the The Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007. We are a hybrid organisation, set up by the Scottish Government but funded by legal practitioners in Scotland. See the Budget and Levy page.
All complaints against legal practitioners working in Scotland should come to the SLCC. We will deal with complaints where instructions were given by the client on or after 1 October 2008. Instructions prior to this date may be considered by the SLCC under the powers of the now superseded Scottish Legal Services Ombudsman. See the What will happen page.
We pride ourselves in being independent, impartial and accessible. If you have any questions, our staff will do their best to provide the answers.
More information is available in the Frequently asked questions and complaints process pages on this website. If you are a member of the Law Society of Scotland, you can contact their Regulation Liaison Team on 0131-476 8168 or by emailing rlt@lawscot.org.uk.
