Siraj Khan

Siraj Khan trained as a Barrister and was called to the Bar in March 2010. 

Currently, Siraj is a research student reading for a PhD in the areas of Islamic Law, Human Rights and Scriptural Exegesis at the University of Edinburgh's Department of Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies.

In an academic capacity, he is currently advising sections of the legal profession and the judiciary on Islamic law, religious and diversity matters and issues pertaining to equality legislation and related procedural matters in the English and Welsh Courts and more recently, the Scottish Courts.

Previously, Siraj worked as an Immigration Consultant; an Advisor to students and staff at Brunel University and as a private clerk for a Judge at the Immigration Appeals Tribunal in London. He represented clients in court on immigration, consumer, criminal and other matters and has around 2 years experience in arbitration and negotiation.

Siraj was appointed as National Outreach Officer for a national Muslim youth association and since moving to Edinburgh, was appointed as the Deputy Regional Officer for Scotland, which is on a voluntary basis.
